"Imagine being on that train, that is a train ride worth a million bucks," Nolan Saumure said. "No, it's not even worth a million bucks; it's priceless. Being on the left side of this train and seeing this view is priceless."

Nolan has been one of my favorite travel YouTubers ever since I watched his video where he spent 48 hours living in a train track slum in Jakarta, Indonesia.

I was lucky enough to happen to meet him in Jodipan Rainbow Village and ended up showing him around on a spontaneous walking tour. You can check out our day on his second channel, Seal on 2er.

He is right; that view is stunning! The railway over the village is a bustling route to Malang Station and the ultimate spot for photos, but only if your timing is perfect. Since I'm constantly asked when the trains pass, I spent a full day on-site tracking them so you don't have to.

Have your camera ready at these times:

08:27 | 10:37 | 11:40

12:03 | 12:30 | 15:02

16:00 | 16:13 | 17:05

Tips

  1. Since Jodipan is very close to the Malang station, trains can arrive a few minutes early or late. I recommend being on the bridge at least 10 minutes before these times so you don't miss the shot!
