"Are you an artist?" Nolan Saumure asked me, laughing when I replied, "No, I am just an ordinary person."
That was back in October 2025 when I led a walking tour for him in Jodipan Rainbow Village (tap here to watch). When I showed him my sketch and told him, "I’m going to turn this into a postcard," I had no idea that by June 2026, I would be opening my own mini-gallery and walking tour office right here in the village, exhibiting my sketch series: Beyond the Gram: Jodipan Series.
I believe sketching is so powerful because it forces us to slow down in a fast-paced world. Through this exhibition, I want to remind travelers that in the age of Instagram, everything has become a fleeting, curated snapshot. We travel at hyper-speed, consuming places through a screen and collecting digital proof of our presence rather than truly experiencing where we are. Sketching forces me to pause and see the vibrant details of Jodipan Rainbow Village that most tourists completely miss.
Today, AI has fundamentally changed how we generate images and interpret reality, instantly synthesizing perfect visuals without ever experiencing the physical world. By spending hours translating this village onto paper with my own hands, I am resisting that digital rush. It becomes a slow, deliberate dialogue with the architecture, a record of time spent truly listening to the space, rather than just consuming it.
